ID Proponents are Gaining Ground
On July 14, 2008 in In the News, Science Related
A lesson in cynicism - The latest ploy to push religion in US science classes is truly devious, is the first thing you’ll see when you open the July 12-18 Issue of New Scientist. Apparently somebody isn’t happy about the recent rulings over Academic Freedom and open-discussion of Scientific Theories.
In this article, we see a lot of the same old nonsensical claims that noble evolutionists are just trying to keep religion out of the classroom, and following up their just cause with an erroneous definition of Intelligent Design like “The notion that life is so complex it could not have arisen without an intelligent agency, aka God.” But this only shows the complete ignorance of your average reporter coming from New Scientist when dealing with topics like Creation Science, or Intelligent Design.
What is Intelligent Design? Well let’s ask the ID’ers themselves,
“Intelligent design refers to a scientific research program as well as a community of scientists, philosophers and other scholars who seek evidence of design in nature. The theory of intelligent design holds that certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection. Through the study and analysis of a system’s components, a design theorist is able to determine whether various natural structures are the product of chance, natural law, intelligent design, or some combination thereof. Such research by observing the types of information produced when intelligent agents act. Scientists then seek to find objects which have those same types of informational properties which we commonly know come from intelligence. Intelligent design has applied these scientific methods to detect design in irreducibly complex biological structures, the complex and specified information content in DNA, the life-sustaining physical architecture of the universe, and the geologically rapid origin of biological diversity in the fossil record during the Cambrian explosion approximately 530 million years ago.”

Note that they’re not claiming “Oh, it’s so pretty that Jesus did it,” as intellectually-bankrupt evolutionists would have you believe. No, not at all. This is a legitimate group of respected and accomplished scientists doing what they do best - SCIENCE. Detecting design is acceptable in many other fields of inquiry, why would it be ruled out for the only one that has implications of where we came from ultimately? Hmm, sounds like a coincidence, right? Maybe not.
So back to our article in New Scientist. Evolutionists are frightened because proponents of critical-thinking have introduced free speech back into the classroom under bills commonly referred to as “Academic Freedom Bills.” These allow open-discussion, and introduction of scientific literature that may be critical of current theories; yes, including the precious Evolutionary theories. But what is there to fear if the Science supports Natural Descent with Modification from a common ancestor?
Given the almost unanimous support Academic Freedom bills are getting, Evolutionists have to find new ways to fight free-thinkers. New Scientist bellows out “This is a tricky matter because restrictions are not the answer. Schools badly need creative teachers who can excite students by debating controversial issues.” Hello!? That’s exactly what evolutionists have been discouraging! “Don’t give alternative ideas any time, you’ll give them legitimacy,” which is similar to other statements made in this New Scientist article. Defenders of academic freedom have been encouraging this all along - discussion! Education is about truly learning how to think, not WHAT to think.
Although I’m a Creationist, and very different from an Intelligent Design Proponent, I find this article very encouraging. At least open-minds aren’t being outlawed as much as before. Now the people have the freedom to think, discuss, and debate. Before they had this religious doctrine of Darwinism shoveled down their throats. Way-to-go ID’ers!

In this episode, Jonathan and Eric address how Christians should react to Homosexuality, the alleged contradiction around Judas’ death in Matthew and in Acts, and also how real science has likely demonstrated Darwin to be full of it with regards to Sexual Selection.
